About Getchel
Getchel is a licensed professional counselor who has been providing psychotherapy and marriage counseling in the Morris County area for the last 12 years. She has spent years acquiring and incorporating the most effective therapeutic techniques into her work.
Passionate about couples and family therapy. Getchel has done post-graduate work at the Ackerman Institute for the Family and with The Gottman Institute. She has completed the extensive educational requirements for certification in Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT).
In addition to her training in couples and families, Getchel is a certified Cognitive Behavioral Therapist and has completed certification in Brené Brown's The Daring Way program.
Although techniques are the building blocks to successful therapy, what makes Getchel distinct is her kindness and authenticity. She is devoted to helping individuals explore their emotional lives with curiosity and compassion. This is accomplished by integrating mindfulness, stress reduction and cognitive-behavioral methods in a judgment free environment.
After working with many families navigating the transition of divorce, Getchel received training as a divorce mediator. Through these experiences, she has become adamant about helping couples and their children create a healthier and more cooperative experience through this life change. This involves working with couples to minimize animosity and create a positive environment for their children.
Getchel attended the University of Oregon as an undergraduate where she studied Philosophy and Business. She later received her Master's Degree in Clinical Counseling from Fairleigh Dickinson University in Madison, NJ. She lives in the area with her two daughters and two dogs.
